Dishonesty
My wife entered into a rent to own contract regarding a condo which John owned before I married my wife. My wife and I got married and I called and explained to John that my wife would not buy the condo after the yearly lease ended which John did not accept very well. I asked John if it was ok with him if we left the condo because we could not live in Hoffman Estates where the condo was located but my job required me to live in another town. He stated that was ok, which I took that we could move her out and he would rent the condo to someone else. John took the $7000.00 down payment and kept it as rent for the final 6 months of the contract. He did not tell me that we had to find someone to sign the lease and move into the condo. We would have to pay the final 6 months of the rent. We went to court to collect the down payment which John denied we ever had paid; regardless, we had proof of the checks that we had paid the down payment. We were rewarded a partial refund of the down payment. I had to have written proof that John gave his permission to leave the condo 6 months early. John is very dishonest and looking for people that he may cheat! Please be careful doing business with him.
